Is Cats Safe?

Toxic Hunt

A new puzzle every day: spot the 4 items toxic to cats hidden among 16 everyday plants and foods. Guess, learn why, and share your grid.

A learning game — not for emergencies. If your cat may have been exposed to something, call your vet or Pet Poison Helpline 855-764-7661 right away.

How to play

  1. Each day you get a grid of 16 plants and human foods.
  2. Exactly 4 of them are toxic to cats. Tap the ones you think are dangerous, then check.
  3. You have 4 guesses. Find all four toxic items before you run out.
  4. When the round ends, every tile reveals its verdict, a short reason, and a link to the full safety page — so you finish knowing which plants and foods to keep away from your cat.

Why a game about cat toxins?

Cats are uniquely sensitive: they lack some liver enzymes other animals use to break down common compounds, so plants like lilies and foods like onion or chocolate can be dangerous in small amounts. Most people only learn which items are toxic after an emergency. Toxic Hunt turns that knowledge into a 30-second daily habit — every item is drawn from our cat-toxicity database, which compiles published poison-control data (including the ASPCA Animal Poison Control plant list) and links back to the original source for each entry.

It is a learning game, not medical advice. If your cat may have eaten something toxic, don't play a game — call your vet or a 24/7 animal poison line immediately.

Frequently asked questions

Which plants and foods appear in Toxic Hunt?

Tiles are drawn from our database of plants and human foods with a clear safe or toxic verdict and a photo — sourced from the ASPCA toxic and non-toxic plant database and other published poison-control references. Items in the borderline "caution" tier are left out of the grid so the hunt stays unambiguous.

Is the puzzle the same for everyone?

Yes. Each day's board is generated from a fixed seed, so every player sees the same 16 items and can compare results. A new board appears every day.

Is this a substitute for veterinary advice?

No. Toxic Hunt is for learning which everyday items are dangerous to cats. It is not a diagnosis or an emergency tool. If your cat may have been exposed to something toxic, contact your veterinarian or a 24/7 animal poison line right away.
